Ben is the newly appointed CEO for the Altus Group. Previously EGM - Operations, Ben has led all Altus Operations functions including customer fulfilment, fleet, supply chain and systems through a period of significant growth.
Well known and widely regarded, Ben holds an unparalleled understanding of the Australian Traffic Management Industry and represents the industry on a number of boards. Ben will actively lead the continued growth and capability of the Altus business, ensuring our customers get on with delivering and that everyone gets home safely.
James Pennings
CCO
James has more than 25 years senior management experience across a variety of market sectors in Australia and the United States.
An accomplished business development and origination specialist, he has provided leadership and management to organisations spanning sales, strategy & marketing, corporate development, procurement & contracting, operations and public policy development. James is the commercial lead for the business, responsible for growth, diversification, branding and market development.
Iain Skelton
CFO
Iain is Group CFO and Company secretary for all entities within the Altus group. He is a strategic finance leader with more than 20 years of experience in senior management roles across a variety of sectors.
Iain is adept at developing and scaling teams in high growth environments whilst maintaining a customer centric, commercially driven culture. He provides the Altus Group with rigorous financial oversight whilst driving operational efficiency and financial performance. Iain also leads governance, risk and compliance for the group providing a strong foundation for future growth.
Claire Agnew
EGM - People
Claire is an experienced Human Resources professional with a combined 15 years of demonstrated working history in the Education, Health Care and now Traffic Control industry.
Claire is a broad generalist skilled in employment and industrial relations, recruitment and implementing organisational change. She is responsible for staff retention and engagement as well as injury management and workers compensation. Claire’s passion is to grow and develop people and to increase engagement and performance within the business. Her competitive advantage is her intuition and straight talk. People are our best asset!
Chris Thorton
Chief Safety Officer
Chris manages the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality functions of the business, having previously led Altus’ QLD business with full P&L responsibility.
He is tasked with driving continual improvement across a wide portfolio of works nationally and develops and executes the organisation’s Safety Strategy. Chris is focussed on improving both employee and customer safety, ensuring robust and accountable systems and processes underpin these objectives.
Darryl Byrne
EGM - Operations
Darryl is a seasoned infrastructure executive with over 35 years of experience, predominantly in the road construction industry. His career spans prominent roles with major organisations such as CSR Readymix, Emoleum, Fulton Hogan, and primarily Downer.
Darryl's extensive knowledge covers all aspects of the civil industry, including road asset management and construction, asphalt, bitumen, logistics, and road maintenance. Known for driving outstanding safety performance, he has a deep understanding of business operations and management. His expertise extends to building senior relationships across corporate, government, and operational levels and strategically addressing business challenges to enhance profitability.
Kurt Allan
EGM - NZ
Kurt is an experienced leader in traffic management with over eight years in the industry. He founded ProTraffic in Gisborne, New Zealand, which quickly earned a strong reputation for safety, reliability, and community focus.
Under his leadership, ProTraffic supported major clients like Fulton Hogan, Downer, Higgins, and the Gisborne District Council, and played a vital role in the Cyclone Gabrielle emergency response in 2023. Prior to ProTraffic, Kurt was General Manager at Men at Work Traffic Management in Christchurch, working across construction, infrastructure, forestry, and events. His career reflects a commitment to excellence, safety, and delivering trusted service.

Brendan Cannon is a strategic management executive with extensive experience driving operational excellence, stakeholder engagement, and compliance across large organisations.
